Paul T. Frankl
Austria-born furniture designer, architect and artist Paul Frankl (1886-1958) was one of the most influential leaders in American modernism. A central figure in the Art Deco movement, Frankl was always surprising people with show-stopping designs, which encompassed everything from curved tables and rattan frames to biomorphic shapes and modern upholstery. From his early designs, such as the 1924 Skyscraper cabinet, to his Pretzel sofa and his Speed seating collection, Frankl’s work was consistently iconic.
