Renè Lalique
Born in 1860, Réne Lalique was a French glassmaker and jeweller whose name still dominates glassware today. Best known for his glass art, Lalique first came to international prominence after creating a series of decorative and ground-breaking bottles for Parisian perfumiers, many incorporating his blend of clear and frosted glass – a Lalique trademark to this day. Lalique also created glass vases, decanters, chandeliers, car mascots and panels for the Orient Express. The Lalique company was continued by his family, and remains a design powerhouse today.
