Description
An exceptional George III satinwood breakfront cabinet in the manner of Thomas Sheraton with kingwood and amaranth inlay and box wood and ebony stringing. Although the design for the bookcase doesn't appear in the Sheraton Director, many of its characteristics are taken from it: notably the centre swan neck cornice with its rectangular tablet and carved Grecian urn (see pediments for bookcases), the lower side cornices with their down sweeping curves and finials appear on an example on cabinets ...
