A fine quality late 19th century green figured marble column mantel clock, mounted with cherub in the clouds holding a garland of flowers above a pair of gilded ormolu birds supporting the white enamel clock face, an eight day duration movement, striking on the hour. The fluted marble column mounted on a circular classical moulded ormolu collar and a marble plinth base. Paul Sormani (1817-1877), was born in Venice in 1817, and was a maker of fine 'meubles de luxe'. His work was described in the...
