Minton Majolica cabinet plate, with a central medieval design in émail-ombrant, a difficult technique achieved by flooding majolica glazes over an intaglio design, causing the impressed cavities to appear as shadows of various depths; bordered with alternating relief-molded putti, raised oval panels mottled in blues and ochre, and stylized sunflowers, with extensive molded strapwork in a quatrefoil and eye design, the mottled reverse with impressed marks, 'MINTON,' and Minton date cypher for 186...
